Special Charge Conference: Supporting Our Community Together
We will hold a special Charge Conference on Sunday, November 10th, immediately following the worship service, as required by the Conference for any new lease agreements longer than one month. This meeting is to review and vote on the proposed lease with Westside Parent Education Nursery School (WPENS) for use of our church facilities. All church members are encouraged to attend as we discern this opportunity to support our mission and community outreach through this potential partnership.
The key points of the lease agreement between United Methodist Church of Santa Cruz (UMCSC) and WPENS include:
1. Premises Use: WPENS will lease the Children’s Room, Children’s Bathrooms, Fellowship Hall, Garden, and Outside Playground Areas for preschool purposes, with restricted use during certain hours due to existing agreements with Spring Hill School. 2. Program Hours: WPENS may operate Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to Noon, pending prior UMCSC approval for any other schedule adjustments​. 3. Shared Use and Cleaning: WPENS shares facilities with Spring Hill School and must restore the areas after use. There are fees associated with using and cleaning shared spaces like the Fellowship Hall if WPENS fails to maintain the specified conditions. 4. Term and Renewal: The lease term is defined with provisions for potential renewals for up to three additional one-year terms by mutual agreement. 5. Payment Terms: WPENS will pay UMCSC a monthly fee of [ ]. which includes utility costs, with the church reserving the right to adjust utility terms during renewal. 6. Compliance and Insurance: WPENS is responsible for maintaining compliance with health, safety, licensing, and insurance requirements to protect both UMCSC and WPENS.
