Blessing of the Animals
On the first Sunday of October, we join with Christians around the world in celebrating the Blessing of the Animals, a tradition that coincides with the Feast Day of Saint Francis of Assisi. Saint Francis is remembered for his deep love and care for all of God’s creatures, seeing in them a reflection of God’s goodness. This special celebration is a joyful reminder of the unique love, companionship, and joy our pets bring into our lives.
We invite you to bring your beloved pets — dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, fish, or even a photo of a cherished animal — to our church courtyard at 12:00 noon on Sunday, October 5 for a time of blessing and celebration. Each animal will receive an individual blessing, and together we’ll give thanks for the creatures that share our homes and hearts. Whether your pet is furry, feathered, scaly, or simply beloved in memory, this is a moment to honor the bond we share with them.
This is also a wonderful opportunity to invite your friends, neighbors, and community members to join us! You don’t need to be a church member to participate — all are welcome. So spread the word, bring your pets, and come ready for a warm, festive gathering filled with gratitude and joy. We look forward to seeing you and your animal companions on October 5 at noon!
